Back On The Grind

August 3, 2022 This week was all about getting settled back into routine. This summer has been a whirlwind and I can’t believe it’s already August. That being said, it’s easy to feel a little unmoored in all the adventure and travel and it’ll be nice(ish) to have a few weeks to get my head on straight. My focus for the next few weeks is to really take a look at my day-to-day habits and figure out where I can make some changes. I’ve already been able to see some small changes like cooking and eating at home more, looking for free activities to do in the area, and thinking twice if I really *need* something I want to impulsively buy. The good news is that all my friends know I’m a part of Project Money and are always there as good backup when I need it.Example A, an actual conversation I had with my friend recently:
  • Me: I want $125 customized embroidered chucks talk me out of it
  • My best friend: No, wait until a bonus
  • Me: I’m bored I want them
  • Friend: LEARN SOME SELF CONTROL
  • Me: I DON’T HAVE ANY
  • Friend: LEARN
Did I learn any self-control? Maybe. I didn’t end up buying the shoes so that’s a plus. I’m also still learning how to not think of this as a sprint or an all or nothing journey. It’s a marathon and it’ll take time and it’s still okay to treat myself every once and a while. Although, I think I might treat myself to a coffee and not expensive shoes.
