The Grind Is Boring

August 10, 2022 Last week, I wrote about how excited I was to get back into the grind of things, settle down, and kind of relax over the next few weeks to gear up for fall trips. Well, in classic Maiya fashion, I got bored immediately and had to find something else to do.One thing the pandemic did was blow up the pet industry. A lot of people got pets and then had a lot of learning to do as for how to take care of them. As a groomer and a pet sitter, aka side hustle #1 and side hustle #2, I’ve never been busier. I was so busy, that at one point I had to stop taking new clients because my side hustles were becoming their own full-time jobs and I already have one of those too. It was, and still can be, overwhelming to have so many people who need your help but there just aren’t enough hours in the day. The good news is, in down times, it’s easy to open myself up for more work and take on more when I have the time and the mental capacity to do so. It’s also great that I’ve been able to turn my love of pets into something that allows me to make extra money. It’s great to have the flexibility in my jobs to be able to make more income when I need or want it (and great bosses who understand my multiple schedules). I have several trips coming up in the fall that I know won’t be cheap and I’ll have to take time off work which will mean less income. By being able to create a cushion now, it means I won’t have to worry as much later which relieves a lot of potential financial stress.
