Calculate Insurance Needs
Listen, one thing you should know about me is that I am the definition of a Type A person. Scheduling? I’m on it, I’ve got four different calendars. Organization? Thrive on it, absolutely soothes my soul. Going on vacation? Let me whip out the Google doc and show you our itinerary. I love having a plan or guide and being able to know what happens next. It works great in every aspect of my life until, of course, life throws a giant wrench into all of those plans.I was thrilled to start off Project Money on what I thought was going to be a really strong foot. I had my plan, I was ready to execute, andddd then my older dog broke his tooth. I’m not talking a tiny chip, I'm talking it looked like he bulldozed through a pile of titanium rocks with his teeth and shattered his back molar. Unfortunately, I’ve been through this rodeo before and knew it would cost anywhere from $2,000-$5,000 depending on what needed to be done and that didn’t include the other expenses like gas for travel, alternative food he could eat, etc. Seriously, his mouth is worth more than my car at this point.Thankfully, I have pet insurance and a separate savings account for my dogs just for emergencies like these. It came out to around $2,500 and while having to fork over that chunk of change up front didn’t feel good, it was nice knowing I would get reimbursed a little through insurance and that I had some money put away to cushion the blow.My advice: plan, plan, plan! Which is exactly what I’ll continue working on for the next week to determine my goals for this program and how I plan on achieving them.
