Finally Financially Free

December 28, 2022 The past six months have been so transformative for us, and it is hard not to get emotional as we write this last blog post. We are finally financially free. Not only in our reduced debt and increased savings, but in our mindset towards finances and the way we approach financial conversations with each other.Dom really approached this challenge wanting to release the burden that debt had on his shoulders and wanting to have savings that could serve as a safety net because…life happens. Dom had experienced housing instability and even homelessness for a portion of his life and being able to buy his first home with the help of this program and competition has been a huge accomplishment. Dom credits Summit, our financial advisor Jessica, and his many amazingly supportive family members and friends who supported and encouraged him through this.Megan had a huge problem with spending habits and using credit as a crutch instead of learning frugal spending habits and budgeting. Megan has now learned to have less of a “treat yo-self” mentality and more of a responsible and financially conscious mentality. She feels ready to keep tackling debt and saving as much as possible.We both feel so grateful for Summit and we both feel so honored to have been chosen for this competition. Thank you to everyone who has followed along with us and cheered us on. Even if we don’t win, we are wealthy in our new mindset and are so ready for the next chapter in our lives. As we close this chapter out, we could not feel more set to tackle even more financial goals!
