Calculate Insurance Needs
Sometimes in life we have to really sit down and discern between a true need and a “want.” This week was one of those times. When Megan found out that one of her favorite music artists Bad Bunny, would be performing in Chicago, we jumped at the opportunity to buy tickets because Megan personally enjoys experiences over materials/tangible items. When we entered Project Money, we fully committed to paying off all of the debt we had and wanted to fully commit to the process, and that means sometimes only spending on needs and no wants. Although concert tickets feel like a need, we knew that selling the tickets and paying that money towards a credit card bill or other debt would feel so good in the long run and contribute. We were able to sell them for a significant profit and they went to some amazing folks we hope have SO MUCH FUN!We were able to contribute over $4,000 towards debt just this past pay period. We are feeling ECSTATIC! It took a lot of planning, a lot of giant post-its on the wall, a lot of tears and grit, but we did it!We had a very high interest personal loan and were able to move that debt to Summit with a combination auto loan and personal loan with much lower interest rates. Lowering our monthly payment is going to help us contribute significantly more to savings! Shout out to Jessica for helping us say “Peace” to a predatory company. Our focus now will be on savings and sticking to our budget! We are almost officially free of all credit card debt and are feeling ready to start saving for a safety net and investments.Thank you for following along!
