Breathing Again

September 7, 2022 We felt a lot of relief this week and we began to see a lot of the progress we made paying off. We have been seeing our credit scores climb as well as lowering our credit card debt almost completely. We have adopted a lot of healthier habits financially and it feels like we can breathe again. It has been hard not to jump back into old habits such as buying coffee every day and telling ourselves that purchases are “needs” instead of “wants”. We feel as though we have done significantly less spending this month as compared to this month last year. We are hoping to be able to continue saving as we build a more robust savings plan now that we have tackled a lot of our debt. We are still working on personal loan debt, but with the refinance of one loan and a plan to tackle the other, we are confident it can all be paid by the end of this program. We want to start aggressively saving more so that we can buy a home by the end of next year. We have been exploring what it would take to buy a home sooner rather than later and feel we have a good game plan to get us there. We hope to have a substantial down payment to help us achieve our ultimate goal of buying a home.Living below our means is the theme of the week and we are truly working on having that mindset all the time. We will work even harder on it this week by meal prepping, no expensive coffee, no new purchases, and trying to sell things we don’t need for extra income and put that towards savings. WE are really grateful we can breathe again!
