Home Sweet Home

October 5, 2022 This past weekend brought about a huge moment of realization. We put in an offer on a house, and it was accepted! For any family, having an offer accepted is a big deal but for Dom, this has a lot of additional significance. Something that he doesn't talk about much is that his family lost their home shortly after he moved to Wisconsin for college. They had lived in that house since he was two years old and when they lost it, he lost everything that wasn't in his suitcase when he went to college sophomore year. He returned to Louisiana every summer and every summer there was no permanent place to go. His family lived in hotel after motel until he graduated, and we began our lives together in our small apartment not far from Dom's first teaching gig. Dom can tell you that for him, the idea of something permanent and longer than a year or two feels like a distant memory and when we think about the future of our family that is the kind of memory we want the boys to have. Megan is excited as well. In fact, she is the driving force in this potential reality coming together! She kept an eye out even after Dom felt it was time to take a break and focus on other things and like magic, she spotted a deal we had only dreamed of. She is the dreamer of the family. We are excited by the possibilities and there are still many logistics to work out. When all is said and done this may not go past the inspection. Whether it does or doesn't this has a huge meaning. We as a family have come so far from single income teacher salary fresh out of college. Together we have lost three out of four parents and brought two gorgeous and kind-hearted boys into this world. We are proud of ourselves whether the appraisal and offer move forward or not.
