Calculate Insurance Needs
This week we have been working on more tasks for closing on our first home and trying to figure out how we can save as much as possible before the competition ends and especially before closing on our home.We met with an inspector who took us on a walk through the home and although many things are still in good shape, many things are out of date by today’s standards. Although Megan would like to daydream all day about emerald-colored cabinets and new hardware for the bathrooms, the reality of the situation is we do not have the funds to do major upgrades to the home yet. We are hopeful that we will be able to use the tools we have gained through this program to help us build a safety net savings we can leverage for emergencies but also a savings for home projects. We are trying to be much more disciplined through the rest of the program and live below our means. Just because you have it doesn’t mean you need to spend it. We know that not buying that expensive lunch or buying those new shows now will only benefit us in the future when we need money for an emergency or if we want to start on a project in our home. We are feeling very optimistic about the future and confident we will be able to adjust to the large change in our housing costs with a new home mortgage.Thank you for following along!
