Movin’ On Up.

August 17, 2022 This week we had a lot of exciting and life-changing updates and milestones. Dom has been hard at work paying down debt and sticking to a strict allowance weekly. After paying down his last credit card, his score skyrocketed nearly 80 points to the highest it has ever been! We are feeling extremely grateful we were able to work with Summit to find a budget and way forward with our financial situation.Perhaps the most exciting financial milestone we have to-date is…we are officially under 10% usage on all of our credit cards as of August 15! We have never been this close to being completely out of credit card debt in the 10 years we have been together. It feels amazing! Although, playing the credit score game is very confusing and seems counter-intuitive at times. The algorithm for which scores are determined can be very hard to crack if you don’t have sound guidance from financial advisors and we are so happy we have the one we do!In just two months we have been able to pay off nearly all our credit card debt and increase our savings. We feel even more motivated now to tackle personal loan debt so that we can be one step closer to being DEBT FREE.Some things that helped us are:
  1. Only spending a small weekly allowance after all bills, savings, and investments are taken care of
  2. Living below your means, just because you have it, doesn’t mean you should spend it
  3. “Treat yoself” within your allowances, don’t spend outside of that. Save up your allowance for a new thing instead
  4. For families, outings can be so expensive! We have decided to take advantage of the amazing weather we have been having and take free/little cost trips out and pack our lunches for the trip instead of buying food when we are out. It has made ALL the difference!
We feel empowered and ready to tackle the next four months. Thank you for following along!
