New Habits??

July 20, 2022 This week it felt a little bit easier to plan ahead and we both brought up on separate occasions how some of our previous impulse buys were curbed pretty easily! That may sound like a small feat but when you consider how daily expenditures add up (Dom’s coffee *cough cough*) it makes a big difference! Looking at our finances this week we found unused money we could use to more aggressively tackle one of our loans this month and settled on a family dinner menu that all could agree on while staying well below budget!Saying no to ourselves in the small moments feels a lot easier and as a result we are seeing a lot of potential for what the coming weeks and months will bring. And you know it's taking root when your eight-year-old is chiming in at the grocery store, “Daddy can we get this cereal? I don’t mind knock offs and it tastes the same” Eight-year-olds are both hilarious and sponges ready to take in what's around them. We are happy that he is taking in the intentionality we are both trying so hard to model. We were also given an update on where our progress is since the program started, and we are leaps and bounds ahead of our goal for one month in. We feel proud! There was still some leisure spending done that could have gone towards savings that we will work on moving forward. As we look ahead at this new week, we are looking forward to strengthening our new habits and continuing to live within our means as we work to shape what “our means” looks like in the near future. The habits we are learning feel like a reward in and of themselves and we are already a better version of ourselves because of the support we have received from the team at Summit!
