Silver Linings

July 27, 2022 This week was tough for our family as most of us are ill and Mom and Dad took turns caring for the kids in between trying to get well ourselves. We are so grateful for friends and family who also offered to make runs to Target for us and took the dog for a couple of days.Maybe a silver lining to this was we spent little to no money from either of our allowances or our weekly budget. We put away twice as much as we budgeted to our savings and also had a solid plan to pay off the rest of our credit card debt by mid-August. Although we are not feeling well physically, we are feeling so hopeful and confident in our financial future. This week just taught us to REST.Something we also worked through this week and made steps towards was our student loan debt. Both of us work in the public sector and plan to stay there for the duration of our careers. We are both hoping to take advantage of the waiver for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program by the October 31st deadline. We also need to consolidate all our federal loans and get on an approved income-based repayment plan. We will admit, the system is very hard to navigate, and we are actively using resources we have found to try to work through this process. We are grateful for our financial coach Jessica who has helped us to plan out how to tackle personal debt so we can start to tackle student debt once the COVID deferment is over in August.Thank you for following along!
